Líder Aviação (formerly Líder Taxi Aéreo) was established on November 12 of 1958, with its headquarters in Belo Horizonte Minas Gerais and headed by José Afonso Assumpção. The company starts operating with three single-engines Cessna 170-A.

In the 60's the fleet grows to 12 aircraft, in a mix of Cessna 180s and 182s single-engine. Líder counted on 20 employees. In the same year, introduces the first twin-engine aircraft - the Beechcraft D 182. Operations are concentrated on the Belo Horizonte - Ipatinga line, with regular flights to the metallurgical region of Minas Gerais, helping support the development of that industry in the state. Opening of a branch at the Santos Dumont Airport, in Rio de Janeiro. The company's fleet played a strategic role during construction of the Três Marias/MG and Salto Grande/RJ dams, by connecting work sites to the country's main cities. Evolution: Líder brings to Brazil the first executive jet: the Learjet 24(PT- CXJ).

In the 70's was appointed by Learjet as its representative in Brazil. Offshore operations are carried out, at the service of Petrobras, linking oil-drilling platforms along the Brazilian coast.

In the 80's becomes the representative of Bell Helicopter Textron in Brazil and takes the leading position in Latin America's executive aviation sector. Company portfolio expands further. The example set by Líder with both Learjet and Bell is now followed by other international companies, such as Allied-Signal Aerospace (turbines), Bendix King, Rockwell Collins and Honeywell (electronic instruments). At the time, Líder closes a partnership deal with the Flight Safety International. The organization's staff exceeds 600 people.

In the 90's formalize the strategic alliance with Raytheon Aircraft Company (RAC), manufacturer of small and medium size jets with flight endurance for intercontinental flights. Now representing the RAC aircraft line in Brazil, the company replaces Learjet. A new hangar, was built in Congonhas/SP airport with capacity for 40 jets and 30 helicopters. The Sirkorsky S-76 is included in the fleet. Líder orders 3 of the world's first civil Tiltrotor; an aircraft capable of vertical take-off and landing, which also fly horizontally at the speed and flight endurance of a twin engine.

In the 2000's with more than 1100 employees, Líder enters a new phase as it takes on a world class profile, establishing alliances with international suppliers such as BBA-Signature, Composite Technology Inc. of Brazil (CTBrasil Inc.). Opening of Jacarepaguá branch, focused on maintenance services. Opening of Belém and Recife branch bases.
