[edit] History of Kyungpook National University

Kyungpook National University was founded in the spirit of truth, pride, and service: pursuing truth through academic study; developing pride as a member of the University and future leader; and inspiring service towards the modernization and development of society based on the skills acquired through university life.

The primary aims of the University are to offer education for those who desire to make significant contributions to society, provide them with knowledge in their major fields, and encourage them in independent thinking and research. The University also seeks to nurture in all students a deeper understanding of humanity and nature, a broader perspective regarding social phenomena, and a creative and imaginative outlook on life.

As of October 2006, the University has 15 colleges and 12 graduate schools with 18,553 students enrolled on bachelor programs, 3,932 on master programs, and 1,071 studying for Ph.D.s, plus 963 professors and 393 administrative staff. To foster an educational and research environment, the University also supports 29 auxiliary educational facilities and 64 research institutes.
