(as it is otherwise called) began broadcasting in 1990 when it took over the frequency formerly held by KCTC, which had been a Beautiful music station and had moved to 1320 AM to become an adult standards station. Mix 96 has been a soft rock station from its inception, its playlist going back three decades.
