Back on 20 May 2006, User:Deiz and myself had a conversation about making a WP:CHILLOUT as a method of explaining new methods of reviewing your work. While many editors do a wonderful job of reviewing what they type and ensuring that what they type is neutral in tone and friendly in attitude, a few editors are not privy to these techniques. With luck, this page will help.

[edit] Things to Review

  1. Are you cool? Calm? Don't write while upset.
  2. Clear your mind, forget what you just wrote, and look at it again as if someone just told that to you.
Is this something you might take offense to? Is there another way of wording it?
  3. Smile while you write.
While black and white text on a screen does a poor job of conveying emotion, your choice of words can be affected by these emotions,
and they will in turn affect your reader. They can tell.
  4. Are you being honest in your facts and opinions? Are you being sincere in your writing?
  5. The best way to become someone's friend is to treat them like they were one already.
  6. (From Essjay's page) Everytime you click "save this page" be completely convinced that what you are saving will make Wikipedia a better, more friendly, and more sucessful project, and if what you've typed won't do that, don't click save.
