What is a comital district? And what date or period does that map refer to? Laurel Bush 09:49, 18 September 2006 (UTC).
- Added link to maps that that map is based on, the map shows the districts of Scotland up until the 1800s although they did change over time, for example Gowrie became part of Angus pretty early on and Lothian was split into East, West and Midlothian quite early too. A comital district is a term for a subdivision or province usually relating to a nobleman, Count or Earl, although Bailiery would also be an appropriate term. Perhaps that should be re-added.
