[edit] History
KWNR has been a country station in the Las Vegas area since 1990 and is currently the top rated radio station in the Las Vegas market.
95.5 FM was the original home for Christian KILA in the 1970's until 1985. When KILA moved to another frequency, the short lived KYYX 95.5 FM began. It was another country format specifically designed to compete with KFM 102.
KYYX never was able to compete with KFM and floundered after two years. {1985-1987}
The new KWNR signed on in 1987 and were known as "Q95". Another AC station. KWNR switched to Hot AC in 1988 and was known as "Winner 95.5 KWNR". "Winner 95.5 KWNR lasted about a year before finally switching to "New Country 95.5" in September 1990.
In 2004, "New Country" was dropped and was known as KWNR 95.5 FM. You can also listen online worldwide. Streaming began November 17, 2005.
In summer 2006 the "New Country" label came back to KWNR.
KWNR 95.5 continues to be the # 1 radio station in the Las Vegas radio market. It is also the home of After Midnite With Blair Garner.
