KWIE is a commercial rhythmic Top 40 music radio station in San Jacinto, California, broadcasting to the Riverside-San Bernardino, California area on 96.1 FM.

[edit] History

In 1990, the station signed on, as KWRP, programming an adult standards music format. On January 22, 2003, the station changed its format airing regional mexican music under the branding of "Fiesta Mexicana" later re-branded to "Ranchera 96.1" on February 25, 2003.

[edit] Also of note

The "wild" brand for the rhythmic Top 40 format is copyrighted by Clear Channel Broadcasting, which owns format rival KGGI. It is unclear why Magic Broadcasting is allowed to use the brand anyway, unlike Beasley Broadcast Group, which had to change "Wild 96.5" to "Wired 96.5" WRDW in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
