Kvernes stave church

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kvernes stave church (Kvernes Stavkyrkje) is a stave church located at Averøy municipality, Nordmøre, Norway. Built in second half of the 14th century.

This is a one-nave stave church of the Møre-type.

When the church was rebuilt in 1633, the front door was moved from the nave's west side to the south side. In 1776 it was rebuilt, and again in 1810 to add a tower.

In 1894 it was put up for sale and was bought by a group of individuals who donated it as a gift to Fortidsminneforeningen [1].
