KVCT is a television station in Victoria, Texas, broadcasting locally on channel 19 as a Fox affiliate.

KVCT is part of a combo of six Victoria-area television stations owned by Saga Communications, anchored by KAVU-TV.

[edit] History

On November 21, 1969, the station went on the air as KXIX, an affiliate of ABC. It was orginally a satellite of KIII-TV 3 in Corpus Christi. In 1976 the station was sold to local owners.

In 1982 the call letters were changed to KVCT. The station dropped the ABC affiliation and dissolved its news operation in 1989, becoming a religious station, as an affiliate of the TBN network.

In 1994 it became a FOX Affiliate for Victoria and went into a LMA with KAVU-TV, which has periodically produced newscasts for the station. After an attempt in 1998, local news wouldn't be seen on KVCT until 2002 which continues to this day.

In 2002, KVCT was acquired by Saga Broadcasting, owners of KAVU.

Before KVCT became Fox, Victoria viewers would see KRIV (TV) and its former sister station KDAF-TV on cable.
