Kuyucak

Kuyucak is a town and a district of Aydın Province in the Aegean region of Turkey. It is located at 12 km east of Nazilli. The population is about 7,200. Its independence day is 5th of September, which is celebrated every year.

The word of Kuyucak probably comes from kuyuçok (means "many wells"). There are numerous wells around the town.

Kuyucak's climate is a regular Aegean climate, identified with hot summers, rainy autumns, not cold but chilly winters and sunny springs.

Its economy is based on agricultural products that grows at the lowland of Menderes. As it is said for the Aydın province, Kuyucak's mountains produces the best olive oil, and the lowland produces high quality figs. Besides, cotton and orange are among the products of the district.

The town is located near the ancient Greek cities of Aphrodisias, Hierapolis and Nysa.

The town of Kuyucak is on E24 highway that connects İzmir and Denizli. Kuyucak is 180 km east of İzmir and 70 km west of Denizli. There are regular buses from İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Nazilli or Denizli direction. The town is also accessible by rail. There is a daily train service between İzmir and Denizli.
