KUVU-LP, channel 17, is a low-power CW television network affiliate based in Eureka, California, run by Eureka Television and owned by Raul Broadcasting. The logo states that the station broadcasts on channel 33; this reflects the station's channel number on many local cable systems. The cable channel is listed, rather than the broadcast channel, due to the fact that the station only broadcasts at 7 watts. Its new channel position, on channel 9, is licensed to broadcast at 3 kilowatts. Before becoming a CW affiliate, KUVU was affiliated with UPN.
Unlike sister stations KRVU-TV in Chico and KFBI-TV in Medford, the station became an affiliate of The CW Television Network and move to channel 9. However, former translator KEMY-LP, which is currently on channel 33, will move to occupy KUVU's former channel number, and become (like its sister stations) an affiliate of MyNetworkTV. The moves took place on September 5, 2006, to correspond with the launch of MNTV, although CW programming on KUVU did not begin until September 18, 2006.

[edit] Trivia
KUVU's previous CW logo is one of the very few not rendered with the standard white-on-green color scheme. This practice is interesting because the aforementioned logo has not appeared on-air since the station's debut. Promotional spots only indicate that the viewer is watching "Eureka's CW."
