Kuthumi

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kuthumi or Koot Hoomi or Master K.H. is a theosophical Mahatma, also known as an Ascended Master or "Master of the Wisdom". According to theosophical teachings, he is one of the members of the Spiritual Hierarchy which oversees the development of the human race on this planet. Together with Master Morya he contacted Madame Helena Blavatsky to dictate what eventually turned out to be the fundamentals for theosophical teachings: Isis Unveiled and The Secret Doctrine. He later dictated letters to A.P. Sinnett. These letters formed the basis of several books by Sinnett, including The Mahatma Letters, a compiled book of all correspondance between Mr. Sinnett, K.H and Mahatma Morya. Koot Hoomi is also believed[citation needed] to have attended Cambridge University, and authored the poem 'Dream of Ravan'.

According to later versions of Theosophy, Koot Hoomi is the Master of the Second Ray of 'Love-Wisdom' (See Seven Rays). As such, his destiny is said to be that of the World Teacher in humanity's future, subsequent to the current World Teacher, Maitreya. It is believed by some Theosophists that Koot Hoomi was previously incarnated as Pythagoras. According to The "I AM" Activity, The Bridge to Freedom, and The Summit Lighthouse, [1] [2] [3] he was also incarnated as Pharaoh Thutmose III, Balthasar (one of the Three Wise Men), Saint Francis of Assisi, and Shah Jahan. Kuthumi is one of the wise men described and celebrated by William Butler Yeats in his poem "Anashuya And Vijaya."
