Talk:Kuriki

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thought it would be useful to actual have the rules posted, considering according to wikipedia "kuriki" was a dice game.. yet no page existed. Hard to source as its a game passed from player to player. Nyktovus 15:34, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

All content on Wikipedia should be verifiable and, consequently, original research (which probably encompasses information like this that apparently does not exist in any published source) is prohibited; see those links for details and see Wikipedia:Simplified_Ruleset for a general summary of Wikipedia policy (if you haven't already).
If there is actually no reliable source documenting this game, then I do not think there should be a Wikipedia article about it (and, if it came up on WP:AFD, I think it would probably be deleted). Any Wikipedia article about this game should contain only information that can be verified from some independent source, which may unfortunately exclude a great deal of content. (Is there at least some reliable source that documents the game's existence? My hasty search didn't find any, but the prevalence of Kuriki as a surname didn't make that terribly easy.) Most of the content of this article would, however, probably be accepted on some sister project, like WikiBooks.
As for the listing of this game at Dice game, if the existence of this game is cannot be verified, I guess that it should be removed from there.
I also noticed that in addition to reverting my addition of {{unreferenced}} and {{importance}}, you reverted my addition of a category, my attempt to remove of first-person phrasing from the article, and my (poor) attempt to bring the lead closer to standard Wikipedia style. (See the diff.) Was this all intentional? Uogl 16:47, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

half the other dice games on here have no sources referenced, (ie. Threes, Mexico_(game), Liar's_dice ..and no the reverting changes were not intentional, i myself tried to remove some of the first person content, and reword it to be nuetral standpoint. I'm with you in agreement that this should be unbiased and factual. I learned this game from friends that played it, and added it solely because the internet had no viable reflection of this game. It was better than not being represented at all. Nyktovus 18:39, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

What is up with the choice of language and terms in this article? I removed a bit of it, but am confused. I do not find it offensive, just foolish. Having no clue how to actually play the game, I cannot continue editing without fearing I am actually taking out something that truly exists within the game. I highly doubt some of it, however...

The Fouls, Tarting, and Other foul-worthy offenses are particularly horrible and the article as a whole deserves a good overhaul. MrHen

[edit] Vice Australia

Vice Australia's Universtiy Survival guide (or Summer Fun Guide - I've since lost it, but it's one or the other) mentioned this game as kariki and attributed part of it's popularity to being played by Les Savy Fav.
