Halsey's art often deals with the realities of relationships.

Kurt Halsey Frederiksen is a 29-year old artist that creates in various mediums, namely pencil, ink, and painting. He grew up an aspiring newspaper cartoonist, and as a teenager became friends and cartooning buddies with Craig Thompson. After spending a single semester at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in the Fall of 1996, Halsey transferred to and graduated with a BFA in Painting from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2000. His art focuses heavily on the sensitive emotions of relationships. As a result, his work has generated a considerable following online, particularly on sites such as LiveJournal and MySpace where his drawings can often be seen incorporated into animated GIF's and instant messenger buddy icons, though Kurt has said repeatedly that he does not like seeing his art manipulated with fill in color and text added as fan art.

Halsey's art has been featured at exhibitions in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Jose, Portland, Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, Toronto, Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Baltimore and sold at affordable rates for his fans at Urban Outfitters . He currently resides in Portland, Oregon with his 2 cats Swift Scout 4 and Devo, in a house formerly lived in by James Mercer of one of Halsey's favorite bands, The Shins. His work has recently been featured in a limited edition embroidery pattern from Sublime Stitching.
