Kurt Bevacqua
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kurt Bevacqua (born January 23, 1947) was a third baseman in Major League Baseball. He started in the big leagues in 1971, starting with the Cleveland Indians. His final year was in 1985 when he was with the San Diego Padres.
He is arguably best known for hitting what proved to be the game-winning home run in Game 2 of the 1984 World Series. While rounding the bases during said homerun, some contend that he missed second base, and that therefore the home run should not have counted. He is also well known for being the subject of multiple Tommy Lasorda tirades.
"Fucking (Kurt) Bevacqua...couldn't hit water if he fell out of a fucking boat." - Tommy Lasorda on Kurt Bevacqua
He was also featured on an episode of FOX's King of the Hill. In the episode he was a ringer brought in to defeat Strickland Propane's softball team.
