The first flight of Kurdistan Airlines (Commercial Office of Kurdistan Region Iraq (L.L.C))landed in Arbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, Iraq on July 21, 2005 at 10:30 am (0630 GMT) carrying 46 Iraqi and Kurdish businessmen from Dubai, UAE.[1]

The establishment of the Kurdistan Airlines was announced by a press release on 2 August 2005 by the Commercial Office of Kurdistan Region Iraq in Dubai, UAE[2].

On 7 August 2005 Dnata Agencies, has been appointed General Sales Agent (GSA) for Kurdistan Airlines in the Gulf.[3]

The first Kurdistan Airlines flight , flying from Frankfurt to Erbil arrived at Erbil airport at 6:30 a.m on September 20, 2005 with 40 passengers on board.[4]

On July 14, 2006 it was reported that a Kurdistan Airlines aircraft was stranded in Rafic Hariri International Airport Beirut, Lebanon during the Israeli-Lebanese conflict in August 2006.[5]

Kurdistan Airlines will be the first airline registered in Iraqi Kurdistan once business improves. The small number of flights currently flying under the Kurdistan Airlines name are charter flights.

The flight between Frankfurt, Germany and Arbil, Iraq is operated by Hamburg International.

The flight between Dubai, UAE and Arbil, Iraq was was formerly operated by Silver Air using a Boeing 737-200 registered J2-KCE but is now operated by Dolphin Air.

As of 29 June 2006, this aircraft has been parked in Rafic Hariri International Airport Beirut, Lebanon for over 2 months.[8]The aircraft is registered with the Lebanese Civil Aviation Authority as OD-NOR and is owned by Zuhoor Nawroz Trading Limited, a company based in Amman, Jordan.
