Kupwara is a town and a notified area committee in Kupwara District in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Kupwara had a population of 14,711. Males constitute 61% of the population and females 39%. Kupwara has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 64%, and female literacy is 41%.
