KUPD

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

KUPD is an Active Rock outlet serving the Phoenix area. The Sandusky station broadcasts at 97.9MHz with an ERP of 96kW and is licensed to Tempe, Arizona. Its tower is located on top of South Mountain.

[edit] History

Prior to its evolution to Active Rock in the 1980s, KUPD's previous formats included Top 40, MOR, Easy listening and Adult Contemporary. In the 1990s it became the sister station to KDKB and KSLX. The move allows them to focus more on current new rock tracks and less on recurrent cuts.
