Kumasi Sports Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Kumasi, Ghana. It is Ghana's largest stadium, with a capacity of 51,500. As the designated venue of some of the 2008 African Cup of Nations matches, the stadium is currently being rebuilt and upgraded.
The stadium is also the home of one of Africa's most popular clubs, Asante Kotoko, as well Ghana's National Team known as The Black Stars.
Kumasi is Ghana's second largest city and the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom. The city is considered by many Ghanaians as the capital of football. The game tends to be followed more fanatically here than anywhere else in the country.
The Kumasi Stadium is used mostly for football matches and it can also host athletics.
During the 2000 African Cup of Nations in Ghana and Nigeria, the stadium hosted 7 matches of that tournament.
