Kujtim Çashku

Kujtim Çashku (born 1950 in Tirana) is an Albanian film director and screenwriter. PDG of OraFilm (1993), first production Company in Albania. www.orafilm.com

Kujtim Cashku started out his career in 1975 as an assistant director after studying at the Institute of Theater and Film Art in Bucharest. Before that, Cashku had studied at the Higher Institute of Arts in Tirana.

Cashku has worked in France, Poland and Germany he is probably best known Albanian Film maker abroad for directing the 1990 romantic drama film Balada e Kurbinit, in 1996 he writes and directs Kolonel Bunker (Drama), official Albanian selection for the Oscars Academy Awards in 1996 as well as winner of several International Prices worlwide, including the prestigous CIFT ETC Enrico Fulghinoni in Venise 1998. His biggest international success came with Magic Eye 2005 (Road Drama), who won 9 international Prices such as FIPRESCI 2005, Silver Pyramid, Best Screen Play, Best Actor in Cairo IFF 2005, Bronx Palm, Best Cinematography, Best Music in Mostra Valencia 2006 and CEI Award, and Third Best Film Audience Award in Trieste IFF 2007.

He is founder and Principal of the Marubi Film & Multimedia School in Tirana First University of Film Ever in Albania. [1] Founder of the first International Human Rights Film Festival Albania www.ihrffa.net
