From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

KTDR-FM is a 100 kW FM radio station located in Del Rio, Texas, and targets Del Rio, Texas[citation needed]. KTDR has been licensed and on air since 1983.

As of December 2006, the station refers to itself as "Mix 96.3", and airs a hot AC format. Its FCC license is in class C1.

The Beginning

KTDR open the broadcast microphone for the first time in the summer of 1986 as Power 96. The person behind the microphone at the time was the now pasted Mike Rodriguez. Mike launched the 100,000 watt power house with James Brown’s – Living In America blasting from the studio monitors.

Shortly after that the on air crew grew to include Dave Hernandez (PD), Dancing Don Wayne (MD), Ken Wilson (CD) and the Watch Dog. KTDR dominated the local airwaves with their talented air staff. It was expected because all the air personalities formally worked vastly larger markets.
