KSV Baunatal is a German football club based in Baunatal, Hessen. The team was founded in 1904 as DTV Altenbauna which had roots that went back to a gymnatics club called Gut Heil organized in 1892. In 1908 the club was known as DSTV Altenbauna and by 1933 as TV Gut Heil Altenbauna. After World War II the club was re-established as KSV Altenbauna. In 1964 this association merged with KSV Altenritte to form KSV Baunatal, which then absorbed SV Baunatal in 1970.
The team played in Oberliga Hessen as a III division side prior to 1992 and has since played in the IV division. They enjoyed a measure of success from 1976 to 1979 when they played three seasons in 2.Bundesliga.
The club has produced a number of players who have moved on to more senior leagues, including the Bundesliga, and places an emphasis on its junior sides.
