AWESOME QUOTAGE: According to the awesome Paul Research of Scars and solo performing fame, I "rock under dayglo strobe lights" [1]. He is MORE than welcome, let me tell you.

[edit] Announcement to all chickadees reading this here profile page:

I'm taking a more veteran Wikipedia editor's advice and am proposing a new WikiProject devoted to New Wave music.

The temporary project page is going to be here: User:Krushsister/WikiProject New Wave music.
I was finally able to make the WikiProject live!!! If you go to the New Wave music WikiProject page, you will totally see, like, one of the most rocking things in the history of ever IMO. OMGOMGOMG. Many millions of thanks to Catherine Munro for being, like, only the greatest supporter in this endeavor. W00t!

[edit] General Interests

Reading, writing, and arithmetic. Listening to music. Watching TV. Going to the movies. Cooking. Espousing my points of view. Politics (though I refuse to be a completely naive partisan individual). Maintaining some sense of balance in my life. Going online. Being. Living. Feeling. Seeing.

This is just a taste of what I love.

[edit] Cinematic Interests

My favorite movies (no bullshitting) are as follows: 24 Hour Party People, All The President's Men, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Fargo, Heathers, Joe Vs. The Volcano, Koyaanisqatsi, Labyrinth, Marathon (2002), Peter's Friends, Pretty In Pink, Real Genius, Sex, Lies & Videotape, Sixteen Candles, Some Kind Of Wonderful, The Breakfast Club, The Daytrippers, Trainspotting (film), Valley Girl, Velvet Goldmine, and When Harry Met Sally. This list might be amended to include other films/movies as time progresses.

[edit] Television Interests

I have officially given up on the Food Network. I still love Ina Garten, George Duran and Alton Brown, and it's nice that Nigella Lawson's in the lineup now, but everyone else has gotten on my last nerve. Instead I prefer to wait until Saturday nights so I can watch Michael Smith ("Chef At Home") and Kylie Kwong on Discovery Home, and I still like PBS's cooking shows. Other stuff I love: I'm still hopelessly addicted to "Life On Mars", "House", and anything with Gordon Ramsay in it (thank you, BBC America), but now I have no time for "As Time Goes By".  :( Oh well. I have just started watching "Scrubs" and think it's a pretty good show, so we'll have to see about that. I especially love Dr. Cox. VH1 Classic is kinda in my shit list ever since they started pandering to baby boomers instead of being a nice, refreshing look back at the FULL spectrum of classic (read: older than 10 years) popular music. Though I do still dream about programming a special edition of "We Are The Eighties". My favorite era of "America's Funniest Home Videos" is now the John Fugelsang/Daisy Fuentes one (though I will still watch the Tom Bergeron eps), I still like Britcoms and other programs that spotlight that dry British humor/wit, "Jeopardy!", and general nonfiction bits of infotainment, miss the hell out of Ovation TV (*weep*), like Link TV, love Craig Ferguson to death, and am finding it cool that Stephen Fry is doing a recurring guest role on "Bones". Yay!

[edit] Literary Interests

The Andy Warhol Diaries. Anything written by Lorrie Moore. I actually got to meet Moore once; she is so incredibly sweet! Lorrie Moore rules! I've gone off Anthony Bourdain because I've realized he's a pretentious yob who's not fit to lick the boots of the divine Gordon Ramsay. I used to be a Robert D. Kaplan disciple back when I was an idealistic conservative (there totally is such a thing) but now only look at his books when I want a sort of nostalgic trip back to my innocent and misspent youth. F. Scott Fitzgerald RULES; I love The Beautiful and Damned and The Great Gatsby. I love Elegy For Iris by John Bayley; some of this book is what the movie Iris was based upon, but the movie only tells part of this beautiful story between two people who obviously loved each other very much. Iris Murdoch and Bayley are the two best elderly people I've gotten to be acquainted with this side of my maternal grandparents (RIP).
