[edit] Culling the main India page
The main India page is 32KB. Wikipedia strongly recommends a page limit of 32 KB. I had shortened the earlier para on caste. Although I don't have anything against your section on Indian society, could you please precis the paragraph so that the page size falls under 32KB preferably 30 KB? Nichalp 19:08, May 7, 2004 (UTC)
- IMHO, on the main page a paragraph (5 lines max) should suffice under a heading. After all this page is India in brief. I also think you should reconsider putting all the information on Indian society under one roof, and make a seperate article for it so that more people can contribute {I don't have the time to do this I'm afraid - exams :( } Certainly the culture section needs to be de-flabbed, and added to detailed articles. Willing to balance these sub heading articles? Regards Nichalp 19:41, May 8, 2004 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion on Dhruva. Unfortunately, I am held up a bit for the past few days. Would look into it as soon as I get enough time. Chancemill 17:28, May 13, 2004 (UTC)
- I have drawn an initial draft. Please check. Chancemill 16:00, May 24, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] India
Thanks for the compliment. Actually there is a lot of work to be done on the page. I regret not doing much so far. The Culture and History need to be further axed. To tell you the truth, nobody will ever read such a long page. It needs to be clipped. I'll try and make the sub headings more concise (but it is difficult).
Yes, the last few days have seen some hectic ativity, too much for me to even clean up. (I had started to re-edit offline, but by the time I logged back in, the face was completely changed). From you main page I take it that you probably are an architecture student/fan/critic? Probably based in South India? Nichalp 18:28, Jul 4, 2004 (UTC)
- So, what do you think of the revamped History of India? I have also revamped most other sections including culture. It took me 7 hrs to carefully edit the history. Preferred if you could add a line or two (not more)about architecture under culture. Nichalp 20:13, Jul 6, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] License
Hi, we use a picture from you on fr : fr:Image:Ellora5.JPG. I wanted to be sure it was GFDL. Could you tell it to me ? fr:Utilisateur:Tipiac. Thanks in advance.
- Hi, I am just replying here since I don't have a user account in French wikipedia. The images of Ellora which were uploaded by me were taken personally by me and hence I think that they are by default GFDL. KRS 18:49, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)

The Hijra article needs some help/comments. If you know more on the subject, please feel free to comment at Talk:Hijra (India). Thanks. --Rrjanbiah 04:26, 7 Jul 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Bold
As an engineering student, we have been taught to highlight key words. So quite naturally I do the same. I see no problem in bolding essential keywords on the India page. It give a quick first glance to a casual reader as to what the para contains. I feel it is a wonderful way of grabbing attention. I shall revert to the bolded text. Please let me know if you have any objection. ¶ nichalp 20:07, Jul 10, 2004 (UTC)
- How is it a POV if bold links are present? The Taj is India's most recongisable face. Next, the Delhi Sultanate was one of India's largest empires if not the largest at that time. The two main heads of India are the PM and Prez. Anyways I have put up this issue in the Village Pump. Let's see what transpires before any action is taken. ¶ nichalp

Are you a girl? Came across it in a talk page. ¶ nichalp
- Thanks for clarifying. Also this page needs some matter and thought you seem to be the right person with expertise in this field: Arts and entertainment in India. I created the page on the lines of the US page and it is rudimentary. Also plz check the India talk page. ¶ nichalp 20:26, Jul 14, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] About Surya
Surya of late is more interested in adding more of his own POV. When asked to cite references, he draws a blank. Not only that, if you don't agree to his POV, he shifts the blame on your character through vilified campaigns. Also, though he realises that we are shortening the page, he goes on to add specifics and details in subsections in the name of boring articles. Another thing I noticed, is the razmataz, that Surya indulges in bringing nonessential topics into discussion and shifting away from the crux. I'm on your side for now. ¶ nichalp 20:34, Jul 16, 2004 (UTC)
Hi KRS, sorry to see you're not around much anymore. I've carried out your request to be de-adminned. Angela. 19:45, Aug 24, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Architecture
I appreciate your perspective on architecture, and especially your more practical interjections in my writing on Architectural history but I do intend to change the main architecture page at some point, because as it stands, it is not NPOV. In fact it is very squarely tilted in the "aesthetic appreciation" of "form follows function" vein of understanding which is a bit aimless. As I hope I have demonstrated in the architectural history page, there is a lot more to architecture than adding the decoration to engineering; architecture is in fact a mirror of culture, and culture is more than form and function. I would like both your permission and help in re-editing the architecture main page. - Chwe 21:29, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for the nomination
Thanks KRS, I'll accept the nomination, it will help me a great deal in reverting vandalised edits in a single switch. Speaking of you, it has been a very long time since you did make an edit to the India page, any chance of you returning to a full time contributor in the near future?
