Krossobanen

Krossobanen is the first Aerial tramway in Northern Europe. Named after a farm in the area . Built in 1928 as a gift from Norsk Hydro to the people of Rjukan (Hydro's employees) to give the possibility to see the Sun during the Winter Months from October to March. The horizontal distance between the lower and the upper station is 814 meters and the difference in altitude is 495 meters, give an incline of 0.6: 1, which means it raises 60 centimeter pr. meter.
