The Kannada script:

Encyclopedia Britannica and other sources (cited in the article) show that the Kannada script was in existence no earlier than c450 AD even if the earliest Halmidi inscription (which had characters resembling Tamil) is to be taken into account. Known literary works started much later around 7-9 century AD with Kavirajamarga being the first. There is no evidence to prove that the Kannada script existed around 5th century BC to account for 2500 years of the existence of the language.
