Kristen Parker is a fictional character from the A Nightmare on Elm Street series of films. She was portrayed by Patricia Arquette in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and by the singer-actress Tuesday Knight in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master. Kristen has the telepathic abiliity to mentally pull people into her dream world. With the help of her friends (collectively known as the Dream Warriors) she was able to survive her first conflict with Freddy Krueger in Part 3. However, Freddy returns to kill her and her fellow survivors in Part 4. Her last action was to unwittingly grant Freddy access to more victims, no longer limiting him to his original plan of revenge.

[edit] Dream Warriors

Kristen Parker is a teenage girl, depriving herself of sleep because of the mysterious man that is stalking her in her dreams. When she finally falls asleep, she is attacked by Freddy Krueger and wakes up with slit wrists. Her mother assumes it to be a suicide attempt, and Kristen is committed at Westin Hills Psychiatric Home. There, she discovers that many of her fellow inmates are being hunted by the same dream killer. This is confirmed by Dr. Nancy Thompson (who had fought and defeated Freddy in the first movie, who is also able to recruit Dr. Neil Gordon into their unlikely cause. Utilizing Kristen's latent ability to draw people into her dream world, the group are finally able to vanquish Freddy for the time being. Although many of them are killed in the process, Dr. Gordon, Kristen, and her fellow inmates Joey and Kincaid, all survive the encounter.

[edit] The Dream Master

In the sequel to A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, Kristen again begins to dream of the house at 1428 Elm Street and is convinced that Freddy will return. She tries to tell Joey and Kincaid, who refuse to believe her, saying that Freddy is dead and buried. We later find out that Kristen has a boyfriend named Rick Johnson, who has a sister named Alice. Powered by the fear of him, generated by Kristen, Freddy does indeed return and soon kills both, Kincaid and Joey. Kristen later learns of the murders at school and, as a result, she faints, only to find herself in the dream world with Freddy. However, Kristen manages to escape the dream. Later she, Rick, Alice and Rick's friend, Dan go to the house on Elm Street with Kristen trying to get them to believe that Freddy is real. Kristen spends the next two nights without sleep until her mother realizes this and mixes sleeping pills into her water. Kristen falls asleep and is returned to the boiler room, where Freddy is waiting for her. Knowing that Kristen is the last of the Elm Street children whose parents burned Freddy alive, Freddy wants more souls and forces Kristen to use her dream power to bring someone else into the dream. This would give Freddy the power to go and invade anyone's dreams. Freddy gets Kristen to inadvertently make use of her power and Alice is pulled into the dream. In anger, Kristen tries to defeat Freddy, but is no match for Krueger, who throws her into a boiler, burning her alive. However, before dying, Kristen manages to give her dream powers to Alice. Kristen is then buried next to Nancy's grave.

[edit] Notes

  • Patricia Arquette did not reprise the role of Kristen Parker in Nightmare 4 because, according to Rachel Talalay (Nightmare 4 Producer), Patricia was not approached by New Line to reprise the role. [1]
