A krenshar is a strange catlike carnivore from the Dungeons & Dragons game. A typical krenshar is four or five feet long with a long narrow head, and weighs 175 pounds. It has a shaggy, spotted coat, a bristling mane along its spine and a long bushy tail. Krenshars are very social among their own kind, with males and females hunting together. They prefer herd animals but will attack humanoids if game is scarce. Young can be domesticated, and they make fierce and loyal companions. They otherwise act like mundane great cats.

[edit] Combat

A krenshar has extremely flexible skin on its head, which it can pull back, revealing the muscles and bony structure of its skull. This alone is usually sufficient to scare its foes. If not, it can also emit a loud screech that is capable of magically unsettling its foes. This is a sonic, mind-affecting fear effect. Krenshars use solitary scouts to use their scare ability to drive prey into the pride's clutches. The scout will then chase the fleeing target to join the attack.
