Krasnoznamyonsky District

Krasnoznamyonsky District (Russian: Краснознамёнский райо́н) is a district (raion) of Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia. The district's administrative center is Krasnoznamyonsk. District's population: 12,961 (2002 Census); 12,488 (1989 Census).

The district is situated in the far northwest of the oblast, at the border to Lithuania, The Neman River forms its northern border, another river in the district is the Sheshupe River.

The district is very sparsely populated. Economy is centered around agriculture. Forests and steppe pasture-land prevail in the district. No major roads or railways pass through the district, bus lines carry the public transit.
