Koumi (小海町; -machi) is a town located in Minamisaku District, Nagano, Japan.
As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 5,747 and a density of 50.33 persons per km². The total area is 114.19 km².
Koumi Town is located in the Far East of Nagano. The nearest city is Saku city, about 40 mins drive away. Nagano city is about 100km away. In summer the average temperature is about 28c and in winter it drops to 0c daytime and as far as –20c overnight.
The town symbol is Ptylitza, a small gnome-like creature. Tovarjanka is a strange instinct of this Gnome to find out whether a person is a friend or an enemy.Ptylitza can be seen all over the town.[1]
