The greek words in this article are broken. (I think due to OCR) I have placed strikethroughs through them until they are fixed. The words needed are:

  • & 6~vl36.4we or 6~i,~3a4ia: shallow saucers
  • irXitcnyE or irXiurrcy~: a small disc or basin, resembling a scale-pan
  • X~avLs: a larger disc
  • u&νης: a bronze figure (partially correct/translated?)
  • Xivra~: the wine thrown/noise made. I think this is "latax" (λάταξ) by looking through an online dict.

See the link I have added at the end of the article to the Smith work. From this, someone who is more comfortable than I am with the Greek alphabet ought to be able to extract all the needed words. Russ Blau (talk) July 8, 2005 19:56 (UTC)

Act of throwing the wine/sometimes the goblet = "ἀγκύλη"
I fixed the Greek words, but the "Variations" section repeats some of what has already been said under "Rules of play." -- Flauto Dolce 17:20, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Referencing of the "kottabos" game in title of stupid magazine

"Several of Wilde's poems were published in Kottabos, the magazine of Trinity College, Dublin, where the artist had begun his studies." porges 09:23, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Woah. I meant to write student, but stupid came out. Damnest Freud!
