Kotonishiki Hideyuki

Kotonishiki Hideyuki (born June 8, 1968 as Matsuzawa Hideyuki) is a former sumo wrestler from Gunma, Japan. He joined professional sumo in March 1984 and made the top makuuchi division in May 1989. His highest rank was sekiwake. He is notable for being ranked at either komusubi or sekiwake (the junior sanyaku ranks) for a total of 34 tournaments, which is a record, and for winning 18 sansho or special prizes, which is second only to Akinoshima. He is also the only rikishi ever to win two tournaments as a maegashira, which he did in September 1991 and November 1998. He retired in September 2000. He has remained in the sumo world as a coach at his heya, Sadogatake-beya.
