Talk:Kosheen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kosheen are a brilliant band - whatever music you like, they'll have done somthing which you will enjoy listening to. Despite having a drum'n'bass quality to their music, they profess to not being a drum'n'bass band - they have their own individual sound which can't be labelled. I entirely agree. Kosheen will hopefully be releasing a new album in the coming months, which is eagerly anticipated by all fans. Their two previous albums, Resist and Kokopelli, have featured many songs - from the hit singles Hide U and Catch to those less well known such as Wasting My Time and Harder. On their webpage (http://www.kosheen.com) there is an audio/video page where you can listen to songs and watch videos for free. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!

Does the word "sheen" really mean "old"? The closest word I can find is "shiin", and that means "consonant" or "cause of death".

As the article states, Kosheen is apparently derived from the Japanese word for old 'ko' (http://www.j-talk.com/nihongo/search/kanjisearch.php?skanji=%E5%8F%A4 dictionary entry for 古) and 'shin' (http://www.j-talk.com/nihongo/search/kanjisearch.php?skanji=%E6%96%B0 dictionary entry for 新). The correct pronunciation for 'shin' is the same as shin bone but with a little imagination it becomes the 'sheen' in Kosheen. Please note that 'Koshin' (古新) does not exist in Japanese.

Some dates in the article are wrong, if as their website says Daren went to university in 1989 he must have been born in 1971 or 1970 not 1974
