The Kost Castle lies in the Czech Republic in the Jičín District.

In the Northern Bohemia, in the so called region Bohemian Paradise (Český Ráj), there is a medieval castle Kost, first mentioned in 1349 as a site of the builder Beneš von Wartenberg. It was finished by his son Peter von Wartenberg and since then it was not changed and is still in good repair.

The castle is know by his so called "White tower" (Bílá Věž). In about 1414 the family of Zajíc von Hasenburg came in, later the family of Schellenberg (1497 - 1524), Lobkowicz (till 1576) and other ones; in this time some more buildings near to the castle were built and joined to the castle.

Unlike the most other castles in Bohemia it does not lies on a hill but on a spit between two brooks. Another peculiarity is the tower, which has a trapezoid like ground-plan. Like in some other cases the reason was, that in case of artillery fire the bullets should not hit the wall in a right angle (in this case the damage was the greatest).
