[edit] Korn: Once A Family, Now A Community

Korn was once a tight-knit 5-piece family, who helped to revolutionize the late 1990s/early 2000s rock world. Ever since the departure of Head, Korn seems, to me, to have evolved into a community of musicians with 3 core members: Jonathan Davis, Munky and Fieldy. This is especially so after David Silveria took his hiatus: look how many drummers Korn has had! And now, Rob Patterson has been replaced by Clint Lowery. It seems like Korn has found themselves in the same position as KMFDM and Marilyn Manson (band): their membership no longer seems to be permanent. There's nothing wrong with this, mind you, but it's just an interesting thing to think about. Kind of makes "Coming Undone" eerily prophetic, don't you think? 68.19.83.93 01:22, 18 March 2007 (UTC)68.19.83.93

[edit] Live Earth

Korn are one of the confirmed bands playing at Live Earth on July 7th 2007. This needs to be added. (Geoff1978 10:16, 16 February 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Eighth Album

Should there be an article for their eighth album? WereWolf 03:27, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

i think that this page needs a pic for KoRn. It shouldbe copyright-free though. Rizk-O 23:49, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] SOAD and KoЯn

In my opinion they are the best bands ever and im just wondering, anyone know if they are friends? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.218.11.244 (talk) 00:55, 25 December 2006 (UTC).

Not to be rude, but what moron keeps removing the picture of Korn; we need a pic of Korn, dammit. Stop being losers, and add the damn pic again. It's pretty annoying. And does anyone know who removed the extra 2 David Silveria pics-RETURN THEM.

How do you change the name of the page from Korn to KoЯn? I've tried to do it but can't figure out how Joesthebomb 17:47, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Even though they're mallcore, SOAD didn't have any turntables and shit so they're not really nu metal. they're only associated with nu metal for being mainstream as hell. TightKid 3:28 pm, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Not sure, but i read somewhere that Serj likes Korn. Is it true? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 201.35.228.113 (talk) 18:40, 22 January 2007 (UTC).
you can call them mainstream, and i wouldnt even contest they are, but neither set out to be anything regular or common, in fact, they were both amongst the most inovative and experimental bands ever, and both early korn and early soad is little short of brilliant. (they both suck now though). Lygophile has spoken 02:57, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NPOV

Section 1, "Johnathon Davies has said Korn's music cannot be classified" - because, perhaps, he might have a vested interest in trying to single it out? Common classification is fairly established. Achromatic 09:43, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

About another nu metal group, a certain Wesley Dodds has said the same thing: "Bands aren't usually considered reliable sources for assigning themselves genres, since they can often reject common descriptions assigned to them for whatever reason, even if that description makes perfect sense.". I think in the same way. Maybe their roughest fans don't consider Korn to be metal. --Chargin' Chuck 13:04, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Band's name

So where did they come up with the name "KoЯn"? The article explains what "LAPD" (the band's original name) stands for, but not what inpired the band's final choice for a name. — Loadmaster 15:14, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Terry Bozzio is NOT a member of Korn, he is filling in for David.

It's actually a little gross. When Johnathan was in his old band he heard about two gay guys eating eating other out, and when one of them came up he had a piece of corn in his teeth. It was a sick inside joke at the time the band started up.

That isn't true. It's simply one of a whole myriad of stories on the origin of the bands name. If you can find an interview where he states this as being 100% true and not just a joke, then that's different, but from what i've heard directly from the mouths of the band members, that's not true.68.255.228.81 13:53, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to do a little speculation, although foreseen and apparently ridiculous: probably Jonathan Davis likes eating Corn Flakes every morning. --Chargin' Chuck 22:32, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
lol. What I have heard about this is that "Corn" is a odd name and no one would forget it. It is draw and named "KoRn" because it should be a child writing that.Stranhorox 20:48, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Band name

well here are a couple quotes from Jonathan Davis: "Korn" popped in my head, and I'm like 'What about "Korn"?' ... and we're all like, 'Fuck yeah!'" .. "To me it kind of means that it doesn't matter what your band is called. Name or not, the music makes a name, you know... 'cause "Korn", that's a dumb name, but once a band gets established, then it makes a name cool. -- There are two other persistent rumors: 1- Korn means "Kiddy Porn" 2- a story that includes eating corn, a party, felching and diarrhea .. You can put the details together yourself since they're different every time someone tells the story anyway.

Doesnt mean much, but I swear to god that there was once an mp3 circulating where in an interview Jon confirmed the "eating corn, a party, felching and diarrhea" story. I don't expect you to take my word for it, but I used to be obsessed with this band and I assure you that this is the reason for the name, or at least Jon made it up, but I've heard him say it. The "popped in my head" quote is from their "Who Then Now" video.

[edit] Influence on other artists

Finally is here! Thank you.

It kind of reads like an advertisement, frankly. The grammar is wrong, words such as "cites" should be changed to "cited," since the event has already occurred and Wikipedia isn't a band magazine, so it maintains some amount of NPOV. Shadowrun 19:07, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Seen It All

We need to expand and improve the Seen It All article or I'm gonna propose it for speedy deletion. The article was full of POV and I removed that content. I've added the Song Infobox but I don't think that'd enough. Armando.O (talk|contribs) 19:35, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Korn unplugged

Korn now has done unplugged with Amy Lee, so should this be under discography?Nanajoth 18:07, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Why hasnt this been included? It is official. http://www.virginrecords.com/tools/korn/unplugged/ecard/ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 196.44.16.10 (talkcontribs).

If you mean new, acoustic rendition of Freak on a Leash, I think it should be included in actual Freak on a Leash article, but in new section and reference in template should refer directly to this section. Broken soul 11:19, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The article needs to be partially re-written

There are some weak sections in this article. Particularly from "See You On The Other Side" onwards. There are several footnotes needed and clumsy style should be removed in order to improve aesthetic value of this article. I think all information about 8th studio album should be included in its separate article, because it looks clumsy in the main article. Are there any volunteers to help? :) Broken soul 20:09, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Rabbit and the Horse

What are they, exactly? I saw them on the "See you on the otherside" album and then agian on the live tape of Freak on a leash, are they mascots of the band or something? 70.16.21.142 03:38, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Genre

I removed 'Funk Metal', because they're straight nu metal. I'm on the edge with Alternative Metal, I think we should remove that too though, because nu metal describes every element of their music perfectly. Thoughts?

Creation Destruction 16:33, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, Fieldy's bass-playing style is very funk-influenced. He and Head were in a funk band called Rag Tyme before forming Korn. And, to me at least, a lot of Fieldy's rhythms are very funky. So yes, Korn should be partially classified as funk metal.

User:URFG

Yeah, but is "Funk-metal" even a known subgenre? what other bands are "funk metal" (and don't say RHCP, as they have almost no metal influence at all). AnthonyG 21:25, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, "Funk Metal" is a fairly known subgenre, a notable group would be Primus, and definately some of Mr. Bungle's earlier work.

Rage Against the Machine and Faith no more are also Funk metal.

Funk and Hip-hip influences are the main thing that separates nu-metal from other types of metal. It's redundant to list them as additional genres for a nu-metal band. 123.3.24.173 01:42, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Liam

[edit] Incorrect info in opening section

I noticed the last 2 sentences in the opening section contained incorrect info, so I edited it to make it correct. The first part that was incorrect was that Korn had 8 multiplatinum certified albums. I assumed this was referring to certification in the U.S., in which the correct answer is 4, not 8. Also, they are not the metal/rock band that has the most videos retired on TRL. Korn has 4 videos retired on TRL, while Limp Bizkit has 5, so I took the TRL line out. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Anthony G (talk • contribs) 03:19, 15 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Slipknot on "Influence on other artists" section

I added a citation on the Slipknot section of the "Influence on other artists" article confirming that Slipknot were influenced by early KoRn. You have to scroll down a bit to find it, but its there. Do you think the Slipknot section can now stay?DevilsAlwaysCry 23:40, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] the matrix

The fact that Korn enlisted Avril Lavigne's songwriting team "the matrix" to co-write their last album after Head left is conspicuously absent from the article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 123.3.24.173 (talk) 01:46, 31 March 2007 (UTC).
