Korki Buchek (Cyrillic: Корки Бучек) is a presumably fictional singer from Kazakhstan, known for his "hit" song Bing Bang (Cyrillic: Бинг Банг). He was first mentioned by fictional Kazakhstani journalist Borat Sagdiyev in an episode of "Da Ali G Show", where he interviewed country music singer Porter Wagoner:

  • Borat: Do you know Kazakh music?
  • Porter Wagoner: No, I'm not familiar with it.
  • Borat: Do you know Korki Buchek?
  • Porter Wagoner: No.
  • Borat: He is a number one star, this song Bing Bang. (starts singing 'Bing Bang')
  • Porter Wagoner (laughing): Good.
  • Borat: You know this?
  • Porter Wagoner (laughing): I do not know that, no.

In a commercial for the 2005 MTV Europe Music Awards in Lisbon, Portugal[1], which would be hosted by Borat, he describes Buchek as a "popular music superstar". There is then a short scene where Buchek, shown as a middle-aged man with a moustache wearing a grey suit, and possibly styled to resemble Joseph Stalin, does his "world exclusive performance" of 'Bing Bang' at the fictional MTV Kazakhstan Studio. The setting for the video of the song is satirically primitive, showing Buchek standing on a modest stage singing and playing a hammered dulcimer. A middle aged woman offstage blows smoke from a wood fire towards the stage, emulating a fog machine. The actor playing Buchek in the commercial is uncredited and his name remains unknown.

Buchek was not in Borat's hit movie "Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan". However, Borat mentions Buchek and sings "Bing Bang" in a scene in inner-city Atlanta where Borat is asked what type of music he likes by a group of young African-American men.

The song "Bing Bang" was not included in the official soundtrack for the movie, but can be found here.

Buchek is also mentioned as one of Borat's favorite musicians on Borat's official myspace page. In a list put out by Cornerstone Promotions of Borat's favorite songs (which does not include "Bing Bang"), Korki Buchek is named as the producer of "You Be My Wife", a song sung by Borat with Croatian keytar player Belinda Bedekovic.

Buchek' song Bing Bang was a huge hit with fans and swept the Grammys after going double platinum in just a year.
