[edit] History

The street was first paved when the city grew. It was first named in the 1860s and was numbered. Neoclassical buildings were on every side of the street and did not affect the central part of the street and still survives with arches with sidewalks after World War II and the Greek Civil War but parts and the southern and the northern parts saw three to eight storey buildings in the northern and the southern parts of the city as the population grew. Traffic lights were added along with street lights. More lights were added in the 1970s and the 1980s, as well as the 1990s and the 2000s by Agias Sofias Street.
