Koretoshi Maruyama

Koretoshi Maruyama (b. 1936 is a teacher of aikido and founder of Aikido Yuishinkai International.

Born 1936 he studied Economics at Keio University he began his aikido training eventually becoming a full time instructor in 1967 at Aikikai Hombu Dojo.

He joined the Ki Society in 1972 as the Chief Instructor travelling extensively around the world to promote aikido and becoming president in 1990. In 1991 he undertook a 10 year period of seclusion emerging in 2001. Receiving permission from the temple priest he established Aikido Yuishinkai International in 1996 appointing Michael Williams as its chief instructor.

Aikido Yuishinkai is a soft style of aikido and shows a return to the aikido taught to Maruyama by the founder of aikido Morihei Ueshiba emphasising the Daito Ryu and the Shinkage Ryu sword school links. It also contain Yuki or healing with Ki.
