Korean profanity

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Profanity is referred to in the Korean language as ěš• (yok, swearing). Several of these words have linguistic and historical significance. Various words have different origins.

In some ways, Korean slang terms and insults resemble their English counterparts. However generally, cursing freely in casual conversation even with close friends is less common than in English and consequently, profanity in Korean has not lost as much of its shock value as it has in English.
