[edit] Summary
Vase: Measuring 10" high and 7" in diameter. Meiping vase of crackled greenish-gray glaze as a ground with underglaze blue decoration of a writhing dragon wrapped around the complete vase and the typical symbolic cloud motif interspersed. At the neck a diaper pattern before the rising of the neck of about 1" which shows some darkening and may have been part of the original coloring of the piece. Excellent condition except for an observation. The ceramic was put together initially in two sections and at one point it can be seen where they were joined. The firing did not conceal it. Early 19th century.
From the private collection of Paul and Elizabeth J. Colaianni.
