[edit] Kopar Khairane Railway Station
Koparkhairane is the fourth railway station on the Thane-Turbhe-Nerul/Vashi Railway Line which was commissioned on 9th November 2004.It is situated at a distance of 12 km from Thane railway station and 7 km from Vashi railway station.
The railway station is located in Sector 8A of the node. It is accessible from both the Thane-Belapur Road on the eastern side and the Kopar Khairane node on the western side. The Station is neet & clean. On the Thane-Belapur Road side of the station is located the enormous DHIRUBHAI AMBANI KNOWLEDGE CITY, the headquarter of the Reliance Communications group.
Also located closely is Millennium Business Park(MBP) which houses quite a few software consulting companies like Patni Computer Systems Mastek L&T Infotech, L&T Control & Automation Unit,
As of 2005, there were 12 services a day on this rail line in either direction. They are proposed to be expanded in future. Currently (since OCT 2006) there are 17 services on either side from Vashi and Thane. It takes hardly 20 min to reach Thane. There is a upcomming demand for a new bridge over the Thane creek from Kopar Khairane to Kannamwar Nagar in Vikroli, Mumbai off the eastern express highway so as to connect the eastern subursbs of Mumbai. This will establish a much desired third bridge linking Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
The realty rates here have sky rocketed, ever since the announcement by Reliance Industries that it is going the build the biggest corporate house in the world here. This corporate house would be located in the huge tract of land in Koperkhairane and Ghansoli
[edit] Wild Life
Very few people would be aware of the presence of wild jackals along the creeks lining up Kopar Khairane. Extensive development over the last few years have resulted in these jackals to take refuge in the last untouched patch of mangroves lining sector 22 Kopar Khairane. These jackals feed on crabs, snakes and birds which thrive on these mangroves.
