The article says (but the red lk was wikified by me)
- he resigned it (1503) for a small salary as canonicus in Gotha.
Consulting English Wiktionary, German Wiktionary, a collegiate dictionary, and the Google result
- 784 of about 101,000 for "canonicus" -Indian -camp -sachem -uss -Narragansett
suggest that "canonicus" is a Latin word. Canon (priest) implies that it is. Anyone got a better idea than changing my lk to canon, & creating canonicus (office) as a redirect to Canon (priest) for the sake of future similar cases?
