Konichiwa Records is an independant Swedish record label that exists for the sole purpose of releasing the music of Swedish pop singer-songwriter Robyn. In 2005 Robyn announced that she was leaving Jive Records and the BMG conglomerate to start her own record label. The reason behind the move was to gain more creative control over her music and career. At this point the label only exists for Robyn and they do not plan to sign any other artists. The compnay has posted on their site and in press releases that they will not accept demo's from any artist.
Konichiwa is a reference to the phrase "Konichiwa bitches!" by the comedian Dave Chappelle. A track on her self-titled fourth studio album, Robyn, bears the name "Konichiwa Bitches".
