Kong Hee

Kong Hee (born August 23, 1964) is the founder and senior pastor (Honorary/Volunteer) of City Harvest Church in Singapore. Kong is a Christian leader based in the Charismatic Movement, preaching on promoting character and Charismatic Christianity.

As a young man, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore, and thereafter went on to obtain his Master of Divinity in 1991 and Doctor of Theology in 1995.

Kong had attended an Anglican church for 13 years since 1975 and had wanted to become an itinerant evangelist and be a blessing to the churches in this part of the world. He left the church he was attending since childhood and set out to become a staff evangelist with "Christ For Asia," a local missions organization, before founding City Harvest Church in 1989.^[1] After leaving his local congregation and embarking on a walk of faith in the mission field, a group of young people that Kong had previously ministered to surrounded him. They wanted him to be their shepherd, to pastor and lead them. With the support and encouragement of numerous senior pastors in the city, Kong decided to pioneer this new work, putting aside his dream of becoming a successful traveling preacher.

Kong is known throughout Singapore and Asia as a dynamic faith teacher, preaching an uncompromising prophetic message for this generation. He has a strong vision in his heart to train workers with a single purpose to see strong local churches planted everywhere in Asia. His television program "Harvest Times" is broadcasted many times weekly.

Kong is the Executive Director for the annual Festival of Praise event in Singapore. He is also focused on training people with the purpose of creating strong local churches everywhere in Asia. As a result, Kong travels all over Asia almost every week of the year to conduct training sessions in Asian countries or regions such as Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia. City Harvest Bible Training Center was born in 1994 to serve this purpose.

Kong Hee's wife, Sun Ho, is a secular entertainer, who currently resides in the United States. Sun comes back to Singapore once in a while to visit family, friends and church, as well as for interviews, recordings and television appearances.

Kong also has a son, Dayan Kong Yi.
