Konatsu is a fictional character in Rumiko Takahashi's manga series Ranma ½.

Konatsu is a male kunoichi and supposedly a genius "female" ninja that is born every 100 years. He is very much in love with Ukyo Kuonji. When he was very young his mother died, which left his father very lonely. Afterwards his lonely father married Konatsu's stepmother. Shortly after that his father passed away, which left Konatsu to be raised by his cruel stepmother and stepsisters, who treated him like a slave.

Even though he's male he possesses a type of feminine beauty and was raised as a girl by his stepfamily in order to keep up the Kunoichi family tradition. Even though he is aware of being a male he continues to act like a woman, and he's also said to be the legendary genius ninja that's born every 100 years. Because of this he is capable of using many amazing ninja techniques such as the Duplicating Body Technique.

Konatsu fights using tea shop Kunoichi techniques and secret Ninja arts, and even though he is not as strong as Ranma, Ryoga or Mousse, he is still capable of using many unique techniques that become very handy at times, such as defeating Happosai by pretending to be a cute girl and using many unusual and unpredictable techniques to defeat him.

Konatsu is a humble young boy and very shy at times. He barely ever shows signs of anger and can sometimes be extremely kind and naive. Even though he never acts like a man, he has on one occasion worn a stunning male Japanese royal uniform to attract female customers to Ucchan's.

His personality seems to be that of a Cinderella. But when Konatsu ate an ingredient called Toushintan his personality changed to that of a Ninja assassin whose only desire was to kill Ranma. During this state of mental transformation, his Battle Aura, strength, speed, and skill increase tenfold, making him an extremely tough opponent to defeat.

Being in love with Ukyo, Konatsu is very devoted to her and will gladly do anything she wants as long as he can be with her, including having to work at Ucchan's for only 5 yen a week.

He apparently has no love for his step mother or siblings, and they have none for him either. However, he does seem to show some sense of obligation to them as he does obey orders, perhaps due to them providing his only place to stay at the time.

[edit] Special Techniques

Despite Konatsu not being as strong as Ranma, Ryoga or Mousse, he still possesses a number of special techniques that are extremely effective to even the strongest opponents, such as Happosai.

• Hundred Hot and Wet Towel Attack: Konatsu throws a barrage of hot wet towels that can burn and dehydrate skin, hitting the opponent with unusually immense force. This Technique was used to defeat Happosai.

• The Drink-Snack Attack: Konatsu throws a barrage of very heavy and durable snacks while simultaneously throwing small flat cups like shurikens. Used to defeat Happosai.

• The Drink: Konatsu hits the opponent with a vast amount of force over the head with a large bottle of Sake. This was the technique that finished off Happosai after he groped Konatsu.

• Paralyzing Potions: Konatsu often uses these to paralyze an enemy. This beat Genma.

• Bill Whirlwind Attack: Unleashes a whirlwind of paper bills capable of cutting skin at a harmful level.

• Beautiful Kunoichi's Kunai Attack: Konatsu unleashes a large barrage of kunai blades toward his opponents at high speed.

• The Greetings Suplex: Konatsu grabs his opponent from behind and slams them head first into the ground (similar to Rock Lee's Primary Lotus technique).

• Poison Powder: Konatsu uses this powder regularly to poison his stepfamily when he is cooking a meal for them.

• Sleepy Kunoichi Shuriken Throw: Konatsu performed this technique while half asleep one morning while in Ranma's futon in which he threw shuriken's at Ranma while hiding behind his blanket.

• Cute Disguise: in order to get close to an enemy, Konatsu will disguise himself as a cute girl and attack when they least expect it with paralysis powder.

• Sneak Up and Crimson Hell Attack: Despite how it sounds, it is actually Konatsu leaving a small kiss mark on the hem of Ranma's shirt, which makes Akane very jealous. She gives Ranma a hellish beating.

• Duplicating Body Technique: Konatsu is able to fuse his body with his battle aura and is capable of dividing his body into numerous doubles. This is similar to Naruto's Shadow Clone Jutsu.

• Kunoichi's Gratitude Technique: This technique is a show of gratitude which can give hundreds of kisses in less than a second.

• Toushintan: A drug that was fed to him by his mean stepmother in order for his power to be increased to its full potential which was more than Ranma could handle. The Toushintan is similar to the soldier pills in Naruto.

• Disappearing Body Technique: A technique which allows the user to disappear before getting hit by a weapon. Similar to the Replacement Jutsu in Naruto.

• Kunoichi Mystery Bust Technique: Konatsu stuffs his chest with pepper powder, and when an opponent tries to grab on to his non-existent breasts, they explode, causing the attacker's senses to become irritated while Konatsu wears a mask to keep from being affected.

• Kunoichi Takemitsu Blade: Originally meant to be a ninja blade that Konatsu had pawned, he resorted to using a Takemitsu—an imitation sword made of bamboo—but despite this, he wields it as though at were a real sword and can be very lethal.

• Kunoichi Delaying Tactic Crimson Storm: It delivers a barrage of kisses in order to keep male customers from leaving. Konatsu uses this technique in order to keep customers from leaving Ucchan's.

• Konatsu was brought up as a female. Because of this he behaves, thinks and talks like a perfect Japanese lady. He usually wears female ninja clothing or cute waitress outfits.
• Trained by his father and stepfamily, he is actually a good fighter and a master in the ninja arts.
• The word "kenzan," used when Konatsu first introduces himself, is not his last name, though it is often claimed as such. It is an archaic Japanese word that means "I've appeared here just now" and can be broken down to mean "cruelty" and "sword." Konatsu's real surname is never revealed.
