Kolari railway station

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kolari railway station is located in the municipality of Kolari in the Lapland Province of Finland. It is the northernmost railway station in Finland, located about 1067.2 kilometres north from the Helsinki Central railway station via the Oulu, Seinäjoki and Haapamäki stations.

The Kolari station is the terminus of the track from Tornio to Kolari, and serves both passenger and cargo traffic. Personnel traffic is mostly active during ski season, and as well as Kolari local traffic, it serves travel to Levi, Ylläs, Äkäslompolo, Pallas and Muonio, all of which can be reached by a bus from the station. In part of the year, the station also has a car transport connection from Helsinki, Turku and Tampere. During the most active season, trains to Kolari include a VR Group club car, offering nightclub services already during the trip.

In 2000, Kolari got a new station building, with a special Lappish hut structure.
