Kogalym

Kogalym (Russian: Когалым) is a town in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Russia, located on the Inguyagun River 325 km northeast of Khanty-Mansiysk. Population: 57,800 (2006 est.); 55,367 (2002 Census); 44,297 (1989 Census).
Kogalym was founded in 1975 due to the development of the oil fields in its vicinity. It was granted town status on August 15, 1985. Economy of the town is based on oil extraction. It is served by Kogalym Airport.
