Koala Beach

Koala Beach was an Australian Soap filmed in the 1990's. It was shown on Australian Channel 9 for 18 months between September 1991 and March 1993. Koala Beach followed the disfunctional families of the characters who were often at war with each other, and the storylines were based around teenagers coming of age.
It became a cult hit because of its dodgy storylines, but was never a ratings hit.
The biggest star to come from Koala Beach is Jane Turner, from Kath and Kim. She played the character Yolanda and was dramatically killed off in a car crash after just a few episodes after trying to blackmail her husband Turner.

Some stars like Jane Turner did make a career out of her appearance in Koala Beach. The programme is remembered for its dodgy plots, and most recently, Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills started talking about the show in July 2006.
