Knut Arild Hareide

Knut Arild Hareide (born November 23, 1972) is a Norwegian politician from Bømlo in Hordaland, Norway. He was State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance from 2001 to 2003. From summer 2004 to fall 2005 he was the Norwegian Minister of the Environment.
Hareide earned a sivilokonom degree from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. During his time at NHH, he also followed some courses in sociology at the University of Bergen.
Hareide was active in student politics. His involvement included a term as a member of the student parliament at the University of Bergen, as a leader of the Student Union at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, and as a member of the national student union.
He has also been a member of the municipal council of Bømlo for the Christian Democratic Party and a member of Bømlo Cultural Committee.
