[edit] Rule 10 and the foul strike

Was there a foul strike introduced in 1858? For how long? The foul strike was finally adopted by the NL in 1901, the AL and many others in 1903. --P64 23:51, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

  • It was long before 1901. I think it was in 1858. Maybe the article is unclear. Also, you might be technically right about a fair ball over the fence being considered foul, but at places like the Elysian Fields there were basically no outfield fences, so that was a moot point.
